OneDrive Connection Troubleshooting

Whenever OneDrive changes not uploading or syncing either from either direction (from your device to the cloud, or cloud to your device) follow the following steps below.

  1. First we need to determine if the sync is still working but the app is just hung up or frozen. Start out by opening the blue OneDrive Cloud icon in the bottom right of your main screen. Sometimes this can be hidden under the little up arrow.
  2. Click on the cloud icon then click on the settings gear icon in the top right, then select quit.
  3. Next using the search bar at the bottom of your screen on the Windows Taskbar search up task manager and search up OneDrive in the task manager search bar to make sure that no other OneDrive services show up as running. If something does appear after searching OneDrive right click on the service and select end process.
  4. Wait roughly a minute and then using the search bar at the bottom of your screen on the Windows Taskbar search up OneDrive and select it to open it back up
  5. At this point check your OneDrive sync folder and see if items start correctly populating if they are stop here, if not continue following the next steps.
  6. If restarting the OneDrive services doesn't solve the issue the next step is to create a new SharePoint sync.
  7. To start this process open the OneDrive Cloud icon settings like we did previously this time navigate to the settings option after clicking the settings gear icon, then select account.
  8. From here you will want to click stop sync on the CA1-FS030 sync, then select disconnect account. (Note that starting the sync over from scratch requires time before it will have all folders and items available for access again in your file explorer. I recommend starting this at the end of a work day and letting it run overnight, or over the weekend).
  9. Next let it sign you out of OneDrive, you can check the status of this by clicking on the OneDrive icon in the bottom right. Once it has signed you out, access the Childers SharePoint site and navigate to the CA1-FS030 tab.
  10. After you make it to the tab, select the sync button and click allow to the first access prompt, and select use pre-existing folder.
  11. From here let the sync run and catch back up, then verify the sync is now working correctly.
